PI43389: ABEND0C7 WHEN RUNNING DSN1PRNT WITH EXPAND AND VALUE OPTIONS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer running DSN1PRNT with following parameters:
  PARM='FULLCOPY,PRINT,FORMAT,EXPAND,VALUE(KS      8100282-0194)'
  The job abends with Abend0c7 in DSN1PRNT +x'3446' (level
  UI18335) on a compression call because comprssion is incorrcetly
  invoked for a space map page.
  Running with EXPAND and no VALUE the job completes with RC00.

  *                      ABENDS0C7 at DSN1PRNT OFFSET3446.       *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available.         *
  ****************************************************************
  A DSN1PRNT with the EXPAND and VALUE parameters for a full image
  copy of a table space defined with COMPRESS YES abended with
  ABEND0C7 at DSN1PRNT + '3446'x.
  This problem occurred because DSN1PRNT tried to decompress a
  non-data page to search for the specified value by mistake.
  The same problem can happen for DSN1PRNT with the EXPAND and
  VALUE parameters for a VSAM data set of a compressed table
  space.
  

Problem conclusion

• DSN1PRNT code has been modified to only decompress data pages
  to search for the specified value.
