APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The run-time support for the in-memory sorting of tables fails
  to free all the memory it allocates for a sort instance.
  
  Repeated sorts could eventually lead to memory exhaustion.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Memory leak.  Some of the heap memory   *
  *                      used by the SORT statement is not       *
  *                      deallocated after the sort is done,     *
  *                      causing a memory leak.                  *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply provided service.                      *

  Some of the heap memory that is allocated to do the sort at run
  time is not deallocated at the end of the sort, causing a memory
  leak.
  

Problem conclusion

• The COBOL run time is changed to fix the memory leak.
