  The compiler needs to generate a conversion of the argument from
  the user type to COMP-2 as part of the computation of the
  result. The internal logic was roughly "if type is not float and
  the size is not 8 then ..." instead of "if type is not float or
  the size is not 8 then ...".
  

Problem conclusion

• The Enterprise COBOL V5.2 compiler was changed
  to handle the case where the argument
  was 8 bytes but not USAGE COMP-2 in order avoid the ABORT.
