Error description

  • When an application attempts to connects to a
    Worklight/MobileFirst server but does not have a connection to
    the internet,
    the application crashes with the following exception

    E/ActivityThread(9222): Activity
    [activity name] has leaked IntentReceiver
    com.worklight.androidgap.plugin.Push$4@42bfe8a8 that was
    originally registered here. Are you missing a call to
    unregisterReceiver()?

    The issue lies in Push Hybrid not providing the senderIds
    correctly to the GCM service when there is a retry to connect
    to GCM server after the first SERVICE_NOT_AVAILABLE error.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The issue occurs with the retry logic code which needs to *
    * keep attempting to connect to GCM server with a exponential *
    * backoff. The retry logic only kicks in after the first *
    * failure to connect to GCM. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

Problem conclusion

  • The fix ensures that the retry logic is correctly used from the
    gcm client. There will be a exponential backoff when attempting
    to connect to Google Cloud messaging server.
