APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1 (RDz), when using the
  System z Data Editor to edit a file containing x'0E' and x'0F',
  the characters are not displayed. But the Hex view shows that
  the characters are still there. When viewing the data, this
  poses a challenge for users because the character positions are
  not properly maintained causing misaligment of the characters.
  Also, the problem appears more pronounced when customer are
  using the recommended monospaced font, Courier or Courier New
  (size of 10).
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The System z Data Editor ignored 0x0E and 0x0F characters
  wrongly when it tried to convert characters surrounded by them
  to DBCS characters.
  

Problem conclusion

• The RDz client was fixed to show control characters for 0x0E and
  0x0F in System z Data Editor.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.1.1.2 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
