Error description
When doing a mass delete from the base table, DB2 treat LOB header page as system page and causes it to be written to the GBP. However Other updates end up being written to DASD, making the GBP copy down-level. Normally it won't cause problem because LOB should be GBP-dependent with open-ended SYSLGRNX entry and header page level ID is updated to match SYSLGRNX when the entry is closed. But non-logging updater like COPY utility can make LOB GBP-dependent without an open SYSLGRNX entry, which cause the DLD error.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: DB2 data sharing users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Down-level detection (DLD) error, with * * RC00C2010D and MSGDSNB232I, for a LOB * * table space defined as GBPCACHE SYSTEM. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** For a LOB space with GBPCACHE SYSTEM, "system" pages are written to the GBP while "non-system" pages are written to DASD. Only high-level and low-level space map pages are supposed to be treated as system pages, but there is a header page update made during a mass delete which marks the header page as a system page. Since the mass delete writes the header page to the GBP while all other updates write it directly to DASD, the copy in the GBP can become down-level. If such a down-level copy of the header page is retrieved while opening the LOB space, a DLD failure may occur.
Problem conclusion
The mass delete LOB header page update has been modified to no longer treat the header page as a "system" page.
