APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If an MFP Android application is exercising the
  Logger.updateConfigFromServer() method, whether automatically or
  explicitly, it will fail to retrieve the desired log
  configuration profile, even if the admin has selected "Android"
  environment in the menu in the UI of the config profile screens.
  

Local fix

• Avoid using the "Environment" selection at all until a fix is
  issued.

  * MobileFirst operations console users who attempt to set a    *
  * log profile may see two items named "Android" in the         *
  * "Environment" pull-down menu.  It is unclear which one to    *
  * select in order to affect change to the connecting client    *
  * devices.                                                     *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  * A user may select the "Android" environment that does not    *
  * match the devices they expect to affect.  In some cases,     *
  * there is no correct choice, as is the case with pure native  *
  * (not hybrid) Android applications.  They will never receive  *
  * an update to their log profile no matter the choice made in  *
  * the operations console log profile.                          *

Problem conclusion

• The menu choice is no longer "Environment", but more inuitively
  "Operating System".  The visitor to the console may choose by
  operating system, which will affect all Android devices, no
  matter whether the client application is pure native, or
  partially, or fully hybrid.
