Error description

• A COBOL program is getting a SIGSEGV error while trying to read
  a Variable block ESDS file using a batch COBOL program.

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  COBOL for AIX users with SFS Sequential files containing
  variable length records
  
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The read and write codepaths contained a buffer overwrite that
  destroyed beyond the buffer.
  This resulted in intermittent or consistent SIGSEGVs in read or
  write statements.
  

Problem conclusion

• The overwrites have been removed and only the desired data is
  transferred.
