  • UNLOAD XML with SPANNED YES and HEADER NONE generates an invalid
SYSREC. It will cause the LOAD with SPANNED YES fails with
DSNU338I message.

A LOAD FORMAT SPANNED YES utility issued message DSNU338I
(INVALID COLUMN SPECIFICATION) and abended with ABEND04E
RC00E40323 when using a SYSREC data set generated by UNLOAD
SPANNED YES FROM TABLE with option HEADER NONE for a table with
XML columns.  The problem occurred when user tried to unload
only the XML columns, so that the first column in the field
specification of the UNLOAD statement was an XML column.  UNLOAD
SPANNED YES incorrectly positioned the data in the SYSREC when
HEADER NONE was specified and XML column was the first column to
unload.

The problem can also happen with tables with LOB columns.
Additional unpredictable symptoms, such as MSGDSNU334I (DSNU334I
INPUT FIELD INVALID), could occur.

Problem conclusion

  • UNLOAD SPANNED YES has been modified to correctly position
the data in the SYSREC data set when HEADER NONE is specified.
