Error description

  • This APAR is raised to look into making application
    address spaces non-swappable during end-of-task processing
    (CSQSTERM) and also during MQDISC and MQCONN processing
    based on the CONNSWAP setting (all other API calls are
    currently handled).

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: MQ calls are delayed due to an address *
    * space doing an API call being swapped *
    *                      out.                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The CONNSWAP attribute controls whether BATCH address spaces can
    be swapped out for certain MQ calls, excluding MQCONN and
    MQDISC.
    Thus, for an MQDISC call (or end of task processing) it is still
    possible that the BATCH address space is swapped out whilst
    holding on to MQ resources such as latches, causing a temporary
    impact on performance until it is swapped back in.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was changed for CONNSWAP to also affect MQCONN and
    MQDISC calls.
    Implicit MQDISC calls and RRS exits have been changed to always
    be non-swappable to prevent resource contention in MQ.
