PI22439: ABEND04E RC00D10269 IN DSNJW127 AFTER A BATCH JOB CONNECTED TO DB2 WAS CANCELLED.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A batch job was in the process of creating a DB2 log record when
  it was cancelled.  During recovery, an invalid last segment
  offset was put in the log buffer being updated by the batch job.
  The physical writer detected the problem, abended and terminated
  the DB2 subsystem.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND04E RC00D10269 in DSNJW127 after   *
  *                      a user thread terminates with ABENDx22  *
  *                      or ABENDx3E.  DB2 terminates with       *
  *                      RC00D10251.                             *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  A user thread was cancelled during log record build.  When
  this happens, the recovery code may update the data in the
  log CI that points to the beginning of the last record.  In
  the failure scenario, the value was updated incorrectly and
  there were no subsequent log records written to the CI that
  corrected the value.
  
  When the physical log writer checked the CI before writing
  it to the active log data set, the problem was found and the
  log writer abended.  The discovery of a log CI that may be
  corrupted causes DB2 to terminate to prevent a data integrity
  problem.
  

Problem conclusion

• DSNJWE11, the recovery routine for the logical log record write
  code, has been changed to update the last record pointer in the
  log CI correctly.
