Error description

  • As of GA release of TWSz 9.2.0 ( TWSZOS920 TWSZ92 TWSZ920
V9R2M0 V9R2 ) EQQICTOP accepts without warning or error the
values TWSV8R5M0 and TWSV8R5M1 for the FROMREL and TOREL
parameters. Since only migration to/from releases 8.6 and 9.1
was extensively tested, a WARNING message should be added to the
EQQICTOP EQQMLOG if the TWSV8R5M0 or TWSV8R5M1 value is used,
informingthe user that it this is an "unsupported" upgrade
path that has not been extensively tested. The preferred
migration path from either 8.5.0 or 8.5.1 to 9.2 is to first
do a migration to the 8.6 or 9.1 release, and then do a
second migration with the output files of the first migration
as input. This second migration job will go from 8.6 or 9.1
    to 9.2.
    The Planning and Installation Guide
chapter 6, section "EQQICTOP VSAM data set conversion program"
should also add in the discussion concerning the FROMREL and
TOREL parameters a sentence such as "See APAR PI16782 for
migration involving a release earlier than 8.6.0".

    ****************************************************************
A warning message should be issued when running TWSz 9.2.0
EQQICTOP, if either TWSV8R5M0 or TWSV8R5M1 value is used
in the FROMREL field. This to inform the user that the
direct upgrade is an "unsupported" upgrade path since it
has not been extensively tested. The official and supported
way is based on a two steps upgrade from TWSz 8.5.x to
8.6.0 or to 9.1.0, first and then to 9.2.0.

Comments

  • The new message EQQIC70W has been added, to warn the user
of the unsupported upgrade path. Nevertheless after the
message is issued, the conversion continues as before this
    APAR.
