Error description

  • During the initial installation of Worklight Server, Oracle was
selected as the Application Center database in Installation
Manager. On the database server properties panel, the
selection was made to use a generic JDBC URL. Upon attempting
to apply fix pack 1, the selections are greyed-out and no
changes can be made. But the selection shown is to connect to
a single Oracle server. Since this was not the original
selection, no host name is specified. This prevents the
    installation of the fix pack.

Local fix

  • To work around this issue, use a silent install as described
    below:

         Using a silent install.
1 - Use the silent install files provided at
    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wrklight/v6r1m0/topic/com.ibm.
    worklight.installconfig.doc/admin/c_silent_installation_working_
    with_sample_response_files.html
         (Link Silent_Install_Sample_Files.zip )
         2- Copy the file 6.1/upgrade-initially-v6.xml
         3 - Edit the file
                - Modify the repository location to the repository
    where the 6.1.0.1 version is
                - Review the profile installLocation and id (if can
be "IBM Worklight_1" for example, if several versions of IBM
    Worklight are installed
                - Update the offering version (For 6.1.0.1, the
    version is 6.1.0.20140312_0016)
          4 - Run imcl (in
    <InstallationManagerInstallDir>/eclipse/tools )
                imcl input <dir>/upgrade-initially-v6.xml
-acceptLicense -as documented in doc link step 1 above.

During the upgrade process from Worklight 6.1 to Fix Pack 1 of
the same version, if the user provided a generic Oracle JDBC URL
during the initial installation, this network settings option
was not kept and prevented the user from moving forward with the
    update.

Problem conclusion

  • During an upgrade from Worklight 6.1 to Fix Pack 2 or newer, the
installer now properly checks that all the conditions are met
before selecting the Oracle network settings option.
