Error description

  • The CICS Transaction Server is unable to connect to the queue
    manager and receives an MQCC=2 MQRC=2298 return code.
    .
    DFHMQ0309 E CICS_Transaction Server Unable to CICS Region.
    connect using MQNAME WXYZ. MQCC=2 MQRC=2298.
    CSQM504I CSQMQMUP GROUPUR support enabled
    .
    When the queue-manager issues the IXCJOIN to set
    itself as active in the group, the XcfUData.groupUR
    bit gets set off.
    This happens just before the CSQ5001I message indicating that
    the queue-manager has connected to DB2).
    The bit is then set just after the CSQM504I message
    is issued, so there is a window between these two
    messages being issued in which the problem can occur.
    .

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHMQ0309 Unable to connect using *
    *                      MQNAME qsg MQCC=2 MQRC=2298 with MQCONN *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a CICS region, with Resyncmember set to Groupresync in
    its MQCONN definition,attempts to connect to a MQ region that
    is just starting it gets message:
    DFHMQ0309 E Unable to connect using MQNAME qsg. MQCC=2 MQRC=2298
    Just after this the MQ region produces message:
    CSQM504I +qmgr CSQMQMUP GROUPUR support enabled
    When MQ is starting up there is a small window between the
    IXCJOIN for the CFSTRUCT and the setting of the XcfUData.groupUR
    flag where it appears that Groupur is not enabled for the MQ
    region.

Problem conclusion

  • CSQ5CONN has been altered to save the Groupur value from the
    CFSTRUCT and restore it before IXCJOIN.
