PI14207: ATTEMPTS TO USE A SEND REQUEST WITH NO RECEIVE REPLY FOR MESSAGING TRANSPORTS RESULT IN NO MESSAGE BEING SENT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If a test uses messaging based transports ( MQ transport, JMS,
  etc )
  and it is created only with a SendRequest (ReceiveReply is
  deleted),
  messages sent by SendRequest disappear after running the test.
  
  An attempt is made to access the Reply queue which might fail in
  this case.
  
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE
  
  1. Create a test using MQ Transport.
  2. Add "SendRequest" in the test which will send messages to a
  target queue.
  3. Add stub which will subscribe to the target queue and use
  Send Request to send to the reply queue.
  4. Execute the test.
  
  EXPECTED RESULTS:
  
  After completing the test execution, all the data should remain
  in the reply queue.
  
  ACTUAL RESULTS:
  
  Data disappears in the reply queue.
  

Local fix

• Use "Publish" instead of "SendRequest"

  * and invisibly removed from the queue.                        *

Problem conclusion

• A fix for this issue was provided in version 8.7.0.1 of Rational
  Integration Tester. If the Receive Reply message does not exist,
  no listener is created for it and replies remain on the queue.
