    APAR Error Description
    ***************************************************************
    In Rational Developer for System z (RDz) version 7.6.2.4,
    attempts to edit a program fail with ABEND 231-30.

    SYSLOG shows the TCB holding the open of the dataset with the
    error:
    IEC813I PDS OWNER:
    JN=RSED0762,SYSNAME=CTFMVS08,TCB=005C1938,ASID=0098

    RDz operator command /F RSED,appl=D P,CPU,PID=?PID for ASID
    0098?
    shows that the TCB MVSByteStreamHandler$OpenCloseThread from a
    disconnected user still exists in the threadpool

    531             penCloseThread

    ***************************************************************
    Local fix:

    The TCB can be cancelled using command /f bpxoinit,
    term=?PID?.?thread id?
    Otherwise the threadpool can be cancelled using /f bpxoinit,
    term=?PID?

    *                         z. This behaviour results in a much  *
    * higher MAXFILEPROC value that would *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    01.In MVS Miner, OpenCloseThread is not always terminated when
       the client disconnects. OpenCloseThread does a dynamic
       allocation for the output data set.
    02.The rsecomm.log is not closed after a client user logs off.
    03.RSE always creates a null-sized fekfivpd.log file in the
       daemon.log directory on startup, even if the daemon IVP is
       not executed.

Problem conclusion

  • 01.Now, OpenCloseThread is always terminated when the client
       disconnects
    02.Now, the rsecomm.log will be closed when the client logs
       off.
    03.Now, fekfivpd.log file is created only when a IVP is
       invoked.
