APAR status

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• Message field validation is being checked when the parent
  validation is disabled.
  This behaviour is different from that with Green Hat Software GH
  Tester.
  
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
  
  1. Create an XML message with parents and children.
  2. Set Validate Element Children on a child node to off.
  3. Enable validation on the text node below.
  4. Set the Value tab to contain one value and the Validate tab
  to contain another value.
  5. Run the test.
  
  EXPECTED RESULTS:
  
  The test passes.
  
  ACTUAL RESULTS:
  
  The test fails.
  
  WORKAROUND:
  
  Use the Message Editor to disable validation on this field.

Problem conclusion

• The behaviour being exhibited by the current version of Rational
  Integration Tester is correct.  The difference in behaviour is
  due to broken Publish Validation in early versions of GH Tester
  5.4.
