Error description
After upgrading or installing a fix/fixpack, customers using push notifications on iOS may see errors in the Worklight Server log of the form: com.worklight.integration.notification.Dispatcher init Failed to register application '(Application Name)-iphone-1.18' for mediator 'Apple'. The notifications will not be delivered to that application:java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\servers\wlserver 1\workli ght.home\widget-resources\C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\servers\wlserver 1\workli ght.home\widget-resources\(Application Name)-iphone-1.18-503d33u9doi3 980djio3 902\meta\apns-certificate-sandbox.p12 (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.) (The specific error text logged will vary depending on the customer's application and environment, unique IDs will be different - but the error will be of this form.) A change was introduced in this fix pack to correct an issue related to the use of Worklight in a clustered environment, and this change required that relative pathnames be used rather than absolute filesystem pathnames. This causes the above error to occur when using existing Worklight applications already deployed on the server.
Local fix
To work around this problem, it is necessary to delete the existing iOS application from the Worklight Console, and redeploy it to the server. After performing these steps, the error will no longer occur. Deleting and redeploying the existing iOS application will not affect the application's existing push subscriptions.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * IBM Worklight and Mobile Foundation 5.0.6.x administrators * * and developers who upgraded to fixpack 5.0.6.2 or later * * versions and whose applications use iOS push notifications. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * After upgrading Worklight to 5.0.6.2 or later versions * * (without delete and re-deploy of the applications), the * * server fails to deploy the applications from the database * * (during start-up), with an error in the log about incorrect * * APNS certificate path. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * - * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
The code was modified to handle both relative URL and full URL in the APNS certificate path in the database (in table NOTIFICATION_APPLICATION). The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.0.0.2 and fixpack 6.1.0.1.
