PI08664: ABEND0C4 OCCURS IN CSQXBPCS+008D2 IF QMGR RUNS WITH CSQXDBG DD STATEMENT

Error description

• ABEND0C4 can occur in CSQXBPCS+008D2 if debug CSQXDBG DD card
  is present in the QMGR startup JCL.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend S0C4 may occur in CSQXBPCS when   *
  *                      channel initiator is running with       *
  *                      CSQXDBG DD card defined.                *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  When running with the CSQXDBG DD card defined, the channel
  initiator will perform additional consistency checks against
  in-use and freed buffers. Should there be a problem with a
  buffer, the code to perform the consistency check assumes it can
  safely dereference all pointers. In some cases, these pointers
  may not be safe to dereference, and in attempting to do so, an
  S0C4 abend may occur.
  

Problem conclusion

• Buffer check processing has been amended so that dereferences
  are performed under the protection of an ESTAE routine to
  prevent additional abends from occurring.
  
  In addition, the buffer check code now tracks when an FFST has
  been issued for a specific buffer/group and prevents the same
  FFST being reported multiple times.
