Error description
Abstract: The Profile Management Tool (PMT) for a WebSphere Application Server v7 64-bit server is not launched in Rational Application Developer v8.0.x. Problem: Using Rational Application Developer (RAD) 8.0.4.3 (or earlier 8.0.x) on a Windows 7 64-bit platform and started using Run As Administrator, it was not possible to launch the Profile Management Tool (PMT) for a 64-bit install of WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.23 or higher The 64-bit profile management tools were introduced as part of WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.23 via APAR PM58927: - ADD 64 BIT Profile Management Tool(PMT) SUPPORT http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1PM58927 Prior to that, the 'Run Profile Management Tool' action would have been disabled with a 64-bit WebSphere Application Server v7 install. Steps to reproduce: 1) WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.x 64 bit must be at fixpack 7.0.0.23 or higher 1) Launch the product using Run As Adminsitrator 2) Select 'Window ? Preferences' 3) Navigate to 'Server ? WebSphere Application Server' 4) Ensure your existing WebSphere v7.0 64-bit runtime is selected, then click on 'Run Profile Management Tool' button The Profile Management Tools UI does not appear. Same issue is reported in version 8.5.x APAR: - PI06339: A 64-bit install of the WebSphere Application Server Profile Management Tool may not launch on Windows 7 https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1PI06339 Local fix: Run ?WAS_HOME?\bin\ProfileManagement\pmt.bat from a command prompt started using 'Run As Administrator' on Windows 7.
