Error description

  • The end-user experience for the Remote Disable feature has
    changed since Worklight 5.0.5.x. In 5.0.5.x, there was an
    option to exit the application.
    in 5.0.6.x, the exit button was replaced by a close button,
    which simply closes the dialogue - and leaves the app in an
    offline mode.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * In previous versions of Worklight, when the application was *
    * disabled in the console the user had the option to either *
    * update or exit the application - i.e. the execution of the *
    * application was effectively disabled. This behavior was *
    * changed in Worklight 5.0.6; the exit button on the remote *
    * disable dialog was changed to a close button, allowing the *
    * user to close the dialog and work offline. The ability to *
    * disable the execution of the application was lost. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * -                                                            *

Problem conclusion

  • The behavior of the Remote Disable dialog can changed in the
    following manner:

    1)A developer/administrator can add a new boolean attribute to
    initOptions.js, named showCloseOnRemoteDisableDenial
    2) If this flag is missing or set to true, Remote Disable will
    follow the new behavior.
    3) If this flag is set to false (that is, "don't show close on
    the remote disable denial dialogue"), the behavior is as
    follows:
         - if the administrator disables the application and sets a
    link to the new version in the console, the dialogue will show
    only a a single button - the update/upgrade button (the close
    button is not shown).
          The user will have no choice but to update the
    application, preserving the old behavior of forcing the user to
    otherwise exit the application.
         - if the administrator disables the application and does
    not set a link to a new version in the console, a single, close
    button will appear

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for fixpack 5.0.6.2
    and fixpack 6.0.0.2.
