PH52632: REMOTE C EDITOR FAILS TO OPEN WITH A NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION IF MVS SUBPROJECT CONTAINS A MIGRATED DATA SET MEMBER

Error description

• In IBM Developer for z/OS - IDz - v15, the Remote C Editor fails
  to open with the following error if MVS Subproject contains a
  migrated data set member:
  
  java.lang.NullPointerException
  at
  com.ibm.ftt.projects.zos.zoslogical.impl.LZOSResource.
  getRemoteFile()
  at com.ibm.ftt.cdz.core.WDzInfoProvider.findAndAddContexts()
  at com.ibm.ftt.cdz.core.WDzInfoProvider.fileOpened()
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  
  - create a subproject
  
  - add members (not the PDS, just the members)
  MYHLQ.SRC.C(TEST1).c
  MYHLQ2.SRC.C(TEST2).c
  
  - In Remote Systems view, right click on MYHLQ2.SRC.C
  and select menu migrate
  - In z/OS Projects view, attempt to open MYHLQ.SRC.C(TEST1).c in
  C Editor:
  => The Editor displays error:
  Failed to create the part's controls
  
  - click on Details button and it shows the NullPointerException
    with the Java stacktrace:
  

Local fix

• Recall all migrated datasets in the subprojects
  

Problem summary

• Remote C Editor fails to open with a NullPointerException if
  MVS Subproject contains a migrated data set member
  

Problem conclusion

• The Remote C Editor will open successfully now in this
  situation.
