Error description

  • When installing IBM ClearCase 9.0.2.4 or later using
Installation Manager 1.9.1.2 or later, the /etc/updatedb.conf
"PRUNE_BIND_MOUNTS" option is changed from "yes" to "yes ". This
causes the scheduled job to maintain the "locate" command's
    database to fail with:

    /usr/bin/updatedb:/etc/updatedb.conf:1: invalid value `yes ' of
    PRUNE_BIND_MOUNTS

This is reproducible on (at least) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
    and 8.
This is not reproducible when installing ClearCase 9.0.2.4 or
    later using Installation Manager 1.8.9.4.

Steps to reproduce on Red Hat Linux 8.5:
    Steps (all as root):

    1. Create a fresh host installed from Red Hat 8.5
    distribution media
    2. Register with Red hat Subscription Manager.
    3. Update everything. (sudo yum clean all; sudo yum update)
    4. Use
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/how-configure-red-hat-enterpri
    se-linux-8-run-rational-clearcase#arch-x86-cc32 to configure the
required libraries. Replace "xcrypt.i686" with "libxcrypt.i686"
    5. Install Installation Manager 1.9.1.2
    6. Start Installation Manager as root.
    7. Set up links to downloaded 9.0.2.0 install and 9.0.2.4
    update repositories
    8. install CC 9.0.2.4.
    9. Allow the install to complete.
    10. Check the /etc/updatedb.conf file. It is no longer "yes",
    it's "yes " as described.
