Error description

  • ABN=0C4-00000038,U=SYSOPR,C=MQ900.920.IFC-CSQWTRC,M=CSQVEUS3,
    LOC=CSQWDLD2.CSQWVCOL+00000634

The abend has occurred when attempting to build a trace entry
    for a newly created EB.

When EB was created, it attempted to get a THTR block to use
for trace, however none were available on the free chain
and so it obtained one from the PHB.
When the EB subsequently attempted to build the trace entry, it
checked if it had been allocated a tseg yet, and if not would
    have obtained one.

However, the tseg pointer contained a residual value, causing an
invalid address to be used to locate the tseg, and leading to
the abend when trying to access the tseg using it.

Local fix

  • The abend only occurs when running with internal trace enabled,
and so stopping internal trace should prevent any reoccurrence
    of this problem.

    * internal trace is activated due to *

As part of an execution unit switch CSQVFEB was called to obtain
and format a new execution block EB, and thread control block
THTR. Specific fields within the THTR were formatted, but the
remaining THTR storage was not initialised.
In the reported problem field thtr.pSeg64, which had not been
formatted, contained residual data leading to the reported
    ABEND 0C4 in CSQWVCOL.

Problem conclusion

  • Module CSQVFEB has been updated so that any new THTR thread
control block obtained will be cleared before individual fields
    are formatted.
