APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In the reported issue, the client mentioned that  every time a
transaction is run, there is a 16K (0x4000) memory that cannot
be released. An example of the increase in memory can be seen in
the following data:

cicsas_malloc_SA0200000_2.out PID=43254378 2 calls
cicsas_malloc_SA0200000_3.out PID=459780 3 calls
cicsas_malloc_SA0200000_1000.out PID=32047848 call 1000 times

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
Users running COBOL for AIX programs in CICS and that involve a
lot of
loading and unloading shared libs might be affected by this
issue.


PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A memory leak is noticed as proper COBOL Runtime cleanup was not
being performed.

Problem conclusion

  • The COBOL Runtime cleanup has been improved to avoid the memory
leak.
