APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using the IBM Rational ClearCase vob automount feature may not
    work correctly if automounted VOBs are manually unmounted using
    cleartool umount.
    
    If VOBs are manually unmounted, the VOBs will not remount when
    using view-extended access (example: ls
    /view/myview/vobs/automountvob/dir1). Re-attempting this access
    in a freshly "set" view (cleartool setview myview; ls
    /vobs/automountvob/dir1) may work to mount the VOB...
    

Local fix

  • Do not manually umount any VOB that was automounted using the OS
    automounter.

    * the automounted VOB is manually unmounted by a cleartool     *
    * unmount command, rather than being unmounted by the          *
    * automounter after a period of inactivity.                    *

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in ClearCase versions 9.0.1.12, 9.0.2.4,
    and 9.1.0.1.
