APAR status

Error description

• When the IBM ClearCase MVFS loads, it reads various system,
  registry keys, among them
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServe
  r\Shares" If any of the registry values in that key contain
  "unusual" amounts of data, the MVFS is unable to read the data
  and exits.
  

Local fix

• None other than to remove/reduce the number of shares on the
  host and/or simplify the share options. This is generally not a
  good option on Windows Server hosts.

Problem conclusion

• The MVFS code which reads Windows registry data at startup time
  was corrected to handle the case of large data correctly.
