APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) v14.2.1.1 COBOL or PL/I editor,
an internal error may occur if "Occurrences in Compilation Unit"
is initiated in the Data Elements view right after changes have
been saved in the editor. Here are steps to reproduce:
1) Edit a member with the COBOL or PL/I editor.
2) Right click in the editor and select Show In > Data Elements.
3) Make changes in the editor and save it.
4) Right click on a variable in the Data Elements view and
select "Occurrences in Compilation Unit".

Here is an example of the exception seen in the workspace error
log file using the COBOL editor:

.convertOccurrenceMatch(CobolSearchUi.java:nnn)
	at
com.ibm.systemz.cobol.editor.occurrences.ui.search.CobolSearchUi
.run(CobolSearchUi.java:nnn)

Local fix

  • Use z Systems LPEX editor instead of COBOL or PL/I editors

Problem summary

  • The symbol table of data element table didn't update correctly.

Problem conclusion

  • Updated the symbol table with the most current one to make sure
the data element table show the latest changes.
