PH23529: COPY REPLACING GENERATES INCORRECT LOC WCODE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A COPY book is brought into a COBOL program via COPY REPLACING
  statement, which replaces multiple lines of the COPY book with
  blanks.  The COBOL wcode calculates lines based on original
  length of COPY book, not modified length.

  The compiler was generating line mapping information for the
  debugger assuming an unbroken range of line numbers in the
  program whenever the NONUMBER compiler option is in effect.
  However, this is not always true when the program contains
  REPLACE statements or COPY statements with the REPLACING
  phrase.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was updated to ensure that line mapping
  information passed to the debugger does not assume an unbroken
  range of line numbers in the program when the NONUMBER compiler
  option is in effect.
