APAR status

Error description

  • The RIT HTTP Proxy dies with the following error:

com.greenhat.proxy.https.HTTPSProxyEngine run
SEVERE: Unexpected exception whilst proxying: Shutting down
java.lang.NullPointerException
at
com.greenhat.proxy.https.HTTPSProxyEngine.process(HTTPSProxyEngi
ne.java:281)
at
com.greenhat.proxy.https.HTTPSProxyEngine.run(HTTPSProxyEngine.j
ava:166)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:819)

The problem occurs when an HTTPS client uses port 3129 of the
Proxy while there is a stub running that matches the request.
The Proxy cannot divert the messages to the stub due to network
problems, and crashes.

The Proxy should log an error message and continue running.

Local fix

  • Use port 3128 of the HTTP Proxy for HTTP and HTTPS requests.

* unavailable, the Proxy would exit uncleanly.                 *

* Upgrade to IBM Rational Test Control Panel version 10.0.2.1  *

Problem conclusion

  • Upgrade to IBM Rational Test Control Panel version 10.0.2.1
The newer HTTP Proxy code fixes this issue.
