PH20940: ABEND0C4 IN DSNXKCLO AND OTHER ABENDS RUNNING DB2 UTILITIES IN DATA SHARING

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The customer experienced different abends running Db2 utilities
  in a Data Sharing member, until the subsystem was recycled.
  The first abend appearing in logrec was an abend0C4 in
  DSNXKCLO+005AA during Catalog Access.
  This was eventually followed by other abends like:
  04E RC00E40319 in DSNURWIR+034DA
  04E RC00E40321 in DSNUROFL+034E4
  04E RC00E2000D in DSNSVSFB+00A18
  0C4 003B in DSNXKCLO+005AA
  0C4 003B in DSNXKCLO+005BE
  The same utility jobs were running successfully on other members
  of the Data Sharing group.
  Analysis of several dumps showed the cause being in an internal
  field of a control block being clobbered (UCAKACC).
  

Local fix

• Run the utility jobs on another member or restart the Db2 member
  where the utilities were failing.

  Multiple utilities suffered various abends accessing different
  SYSIBM catalog tables.  In all abends analyzed, a pointer used
  for access to a Db2 catalog table, contained garbage data.
  This pointer should be cleared prior to accessing the catalog
  table.

Problem conclusion

• Utility code has been modified correct the aforementioned
  problem.
