Error description
************************************************* ** Defect Fix Template ** ************************************************* USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL Vx.x compiling programs at ARCH(10|11) that contain a sequence of consecutive computations involving PACKED-DECIMAL or USAGE DISPLAY data items with differing numbers of digits after the decimal place. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Program produces an incorrect result RECOMMENDATION TO CUSTOMER: Apply the provided PTF PROBLEM SUMMARY: At ARCH(10) and ARCH(11), the compiler will often generate Decimal Floating Point (DFP) instructions to perform PACKED-DECIMAL or USAGE DISPLAY arithmetic. When combining truncation operations with alignment-shifting operations (to align the decimal points in data items with different numbers of digits to the right of the decimal point), the compiler was incorrectly generating an incorrect alignment shift, causing an intermediate value to incorrectly become zero. CONCLUSION: The compiler was fixed to generate the correct alignment shifts when using DFP instructions.
Local fix
Compile at OPT(0), ARCH(9) or lower, or ARCH(12)
