Error description

  • ABEND04E 00E2000C in DSNSVSVB OFFSET00A54 was seen, as the Db2
ADMF AGL 64 pool was full with CUB blocks. The pool was filled
with approximately 516K ICUB blocks of x'400' bytes in length,
    allocated from module DSNICUBC OFFSET164E ( UI58987 ).
Only cached dynamic statement CUBs are involved. So this is
unique to release(deallocate) applications, with a low commit
    frequency and keepdynamic(yes).
    ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS: ABEND04E RC00C90101 DSNKINSL
ERQUAL500E 500E while performing an UPDATE that
moves a rid to a new partition.
    LOOP or LOOPING in DSNICMT2

Local fix

  • Rebind with RELEASE(COMMIT)

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When Db2 fixed the problem reported in PH01093(UI58987/UI58988),
the outdated internal structures(such as cursor blocks(CUBs))
were marked invalid and the associated storage released at
commit time. However, for an application with a low commit
frequency, then all the invalid internal structures(such as
CUBs) may stay resident in the storage pool and result in
ABND=04E-00E2000C in DSNSVSVB OR ABND=04E-00C90101 in DSNKINSL
occurs during cross-partition UPDATE for a partitioned
    tablespace.

Problem conclusion

  • Fixes made in Db2 to correctly invalidate the outdated internal
structures only when this specific scenario is seen.

Temporary fix
