APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Component templates are allowed to have empty values for
required fields because they can check "prompt value on use".
However, when upgrading plugins, the component templates ends up
following the same codepath as components and its values are
validated at the PropValue level. This can cause adverse effects
like failing a plugin upgrade.

Local fix

  • Give the component templates dummy values for required fields
