PH08300: INCORRECT OUTPUT READING VARIABLE LENGTH RECORD WITH SAME RECORD AREA CLAUSE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a program is using the I-O CONTROL section and the SAME
  RECORD AREA clause. if a variable length record is read and the
  file description is an SD, the first 4 bytes of the record (not
  the RDW) is not placed in the record layout.  All fields are
  shifted up 4 bytes.
  

Local fix

• Use FD instead of SD

  The compiler was incorrectly adjusting the starting position of
  the sort data in the shared record area to take into account
  the length of the RDW.

  position of sort data in the shared record area.
