Error description

• The compiler may take the noted ABENDS0C4 on some programs with
  coding errors. Neither the source nor the errors will be listed.
  

Local fix

• Correct the errors--if v4.2, v5.1 or v6.2 compilers are
  available, compile with one those compilers to find the errors.

  This problem was caused by an uninitialized variable in the
  compiler. The combination of syntax errors in the source
  program caused the compiler to try and use this variable as an
  index into an internal table.
  

Problem conclusion

• Two changes have been made in the compiler to correct this.
  The first change ensures that this variable gets properly
  initialized and the second change prevents the use of the
  variable as a table index when it is invalid.
