Error description

  • NOT ALL PROFILES MIGRATE WHEN MIGRATING TO WAS V8.5.5
WASPREUPGRADE fails when no default is used.

MIGR0104E : You must specify the currently installed Application
    Server Directory name

Local fix

  • workaround :

    STRQSH
    $
    cd /qibm/userdata/websphere/appserver/V8/BASE/profiles
    $
    ln -s /pce/d2admin d2admin
    $
    cd /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V85/Base/bin
    $
    WASPreUpgrade /pcenew/backuppreupgrade
    /qibm/userdata/websphere/appserver/v8/BASE/profiles/d2admin

so because customer moved the profiles from default location to
/pce and extra creation of the symbolic link is a workaround

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    * Server Migration Tools on ISeries *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WASPreUpgrade only allows the second *
    * command line parameter to be a valid *
    * profile directory located under *
    *                      /QIBM/UserData/...                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Some ISeries customers install WebSphere in a non-standard
locations. In addition, profiles may also be created in
a non-standard locations. Currently WASPreUpgrade cannot
handle these non-standard install and profile locations.

Problem conclusion

  • Instead of WASPreUpgrade mapping a /QIBM/UserData to a
/QIBM/ProdData location have WASPreUpgrade use the
    wasprofile.properties, profileregistery.xml files to locate
the profile and use the profile's setupcmdline script to
identify the install location for the profile.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 8.5.5.16. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
