Error description

• IBM developer for z systems - v14.1.4
  
  When adding the datastudio integration, the "run SQL" action
  is not available when alphanumeric chars are present in the
  numbering area of the first selected line (columns 1-6).
  
  Example :
  
  When code is
  
  002300     EXEC SQL
  002400         select * from USER.TABLEA
  002500     END-EXEC.
  
  The pop up menu shows the "Run SQL" item.
  
  
  When code is
  A02300     EXEC SQL
  002400         select * from USER.TABLEA
  002500     END-EXEC.
  
  If selection includes A02300 the pop up menu DOES NOT  show
  the "Run SQL" item.
  
  If selection DOES NOT include A02300 the pop up menu shows
  the "Run SQL" item, even if the second line contains alphabetic
  characters like in example below
  
  A02300     EXEC SQL
  BBBBB         select * from USER.TABLEA
  002500     END-EXEC.
  
  The alphanumeric character does not matter.
  This happens as long as there  is at least 1 on the first line,
   whatever it is  and whatever its position (1-6) is.
  

Local fix

• Do not include the first line number in the selected area.
  

Problem summary

• RUN SQL action not available when left numbering area of first
  selected line contains alphanumeric character(s).
  

Problem conclusion

• For some reason, the original check on the sequence number area
  only checked for numeric character(s).  We now ignore anything
  in the sequence number area (column 1-7 in COBOL) when trying to
   parse to see if a selection contains an SQL statement and show
  the "Run SQL" option.
