Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users of Enterprise COBOL V6.2 who want *
    *                      to use the RULES(NOEVENPACK) compiler   *
    * option to find data items defined as *
    * PACKED-DECIMAL but with an even number *
    *                      of digits.                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    Data items that users have no control
    over are flagged by the option, such
    as Db2 data items that start with DSN
    or SQL and CICS data items that start
    with DFH or EYU.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • RULES(NOEVENPACK) should only flag data items owned by the COBOL
    programmer, not data items defined by other IBM products, and
    this APAR provides a big improvement in this area for
    RULES(NOEVENPACK).
