PH01714: EDM POOL FULL WITH REASON 00C90089 OCCURRED ON RESOURCE TYPE 00000603 FOR EDM DYNAMIC STATEMENT SPACE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In dynamic statement cache, there are enough storage in the LRU
  chain with zero refer counter while EDM is requesting for a few
  4K pages. Db2 failed to get the storage via LRU chain which
  results in the EDM pool full error:
  DSNT500I  DB2A DSNGEPIS RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE
                          REASON 00C90089
                          TYPE 00000603
  
  With IFCID 133 and 134 turned on, customer will get this dump:
  ABEND04E RC00C90089 at DSNGERBK OFFSET258A

  Due to logic error, Db2 Least Recently Used (LRU) Page
  Replacement Algorithm could stop LRU the pages while there
  are still LRUable storage.
  

Problem conclusion

• Db2 is fixed to avoid the aforementioned EDM pool full
  situations by improving the EDM LRU logic.
