OA46593: MSGHSIA999U HSIMSG/HSIAMSG FAILURE FROM PROGRAM HSIAUTO REPORTING RC=2

Error description

• Program HSIAUTO tests a specific variable, and if non-zero
  displays the corresponding message and terminates. When the
  message is found to not exist, message HSIA999U is issued
  reporting RC=2 with RS=9 from module HSIMSG. This can happen
  erroneously when the variable contains non-zero residual data
  because HSIAUTO does not initialize the variable to zero. The
  occurrence of the problem varies depending on LE settings such
  as the size of the stack. The problem was reported on z/OS 1.13.

  When uninitialized variable has non-zero residual data, it is
  used to form an error message identifier which probably does not
  exist. HSIMSG returns with RC=2 and RS=9. Error varies or may
  disappear with different LE options, particularly size specified
  in STACK.
  

Problem conclusion

• The relevant program variable will be explicitly initialized to
  zero.
