The mirroring function in V8R1 provides faster and more
consistent matching by using only one of identical copies
which may be shared in a Sysplex or are just copies.

Libraries that share the same name and volume in Tivoli Asset
Discovery for z/OS but are from different systems are
considered identical in content when it comes to
identification. The first such library as processed by the
Inquisitor Import is considered a base, and subsequent
libraries are considered mirrors which are simply recorded but
are not processed. In other words, a library is only processed
on the first system where it is encountered.

If the base for a given library is subsequently deleted and the
system is presented for processing, only that library is marked
deleted. Currently the mirrors still show as active in some
reports until their systems are also processed.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic has been modified so that all mirrors of a given
library are marked deleted when the base is marked deleted.

The logic of determining the base has also been improved.
Previously, the system ID that was first processed
was selected as the base. While this was true in most cases,
it is no longer necessarily true when libraries are deleted
or added to existing systems which may have been processed
earlier. The new logic uses a mixture of rules to determine
the best base candidate, and relies more on the scan date.
