LO48112: 8.5.1 CLIENT HANGS ACCESSING DOCUMENTS CONTAINING NESTED TABLE WITHIN A LAYER (DESIGN)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When you access a document containing a nested table within a
  rich text field
  within a Layer (NOT a layout region), the Notes 8.5.1 client can
  hang (CPU for
  nlnotes > 50%).
   Form design:  Layer that contains a rich text field
   Document:  in the Notes client, add a nested table to the rich
  text
  field, save/close
  
  In some cases, you will see an error in the status bar "Due to
  an error, this
  paragraph cannot be displayed".
  
  The same documents accessed in 6.5 do not have an issue,
  
  Steps to see the issue in the attached database:
  BACKGROUND:  this sample db contains 4 forms, each which results
  in a different
  behavior.  There is one document.  In the default view, there
  are 4 buttons.
  each button will switch the doc to a different form, so you can
  use the same
  document to see 4 different resulting behaviors.
  
  1.  Detach and unzip attached db to local Notes client data
  directory
  2.  Open the db in Notes client:  There is one document.  Open
  it - as is
  RESULTS:  The error appears in the status bar, no contents
  display in the doc,
  also no client hang.
  3.  Close the doc, click the action button "Use Plain Form", and
  open the doc
  again.
  RESULTS:  doc opens, no error and no hang
  4.  Close the doc again, Click the action button "Error blank
  and slow open",
  and open the doc again.
  RESULTS:  Doc is slow to open, but client does not hang.  Error
  occurs in
  status bar
  5.  Close the doc again, Click the action button "Use Hanging
  Error Form" and
  open the doc again.
  RESULTS:  Now client will hang.
  

Local fix

• take the rich text field outside the layer or eliminate the
  layer from the form
