Error description
gprof issues multiple error message regarding bad dwarf file number BFD: Dwarf Error: mangled line number section (bad file number). BFD: Dwarf Error: mangled line number section (bad file number). BFD: Dwarf Error: mangled line number section (bad file number). The problem affects the users invoking compiler options -pg together with -O2.
Local fix
Pre-process the source file to .i file first or use -O2 together with -g8 or -g only.
Problem summary
gprof complains about bad dwarf file number
Problem conclusion
The compiler no longer generates bad file number for optimized out variables, so that gprof does not issue messages.
