APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When linking a large group of object files using -qipa and
    requesting the generation of an xml formated report, through the
    use of -qlistfmt=xml=all, compilation does not finish.
    
    Several messages, similar to the following, are observed:
    
    An error occured processing the sql statement. Return code was 0
    An error occured binding parameter 4: rc was 21
    

Local fix

  • Use -qipa=nothreads.
    

Problem summary

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    Compilation hang occurs when XML report is enabled and high
    level optimization invokes the use of multiple compiler
    components in parallel at -qipa=level=0 and above.
    
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users of XML report with -qipa=level=0 and above.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Problem was workarounded. A future version of the compiler will
    correctly address this issue.
