APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you try to open an exposed process value (EPV) in the
Process Admin Console by selecting Admin tools > Manage EPVs,
the EPVs do not open and you receive the following message:

"Illegal group reference"

Local fix

  • Remove dollar ($) sign from their Exposed Process Value (EPV)
description.

Problem summary

  • This issue occurs if an EPV description contains certain
specific characters, such as the dollar sign ($). These
characters cause the EPV to be evaluated as a Java regular
expression, causing the failure and message.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix that prevents the EPV from being evaluated as a Java
expression will be available in a future release of IBM Business
 Automation Workflow.
