APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In general, coach views assume that all binding data is
initialized to a value. However, when a column is bound to a
string, all the values must be set to an empty string ("") if
they are not set to another value. If the data has an
uninitialized (undefined) value for the column that is being
sorted on, the rows are not sorted as expected.

Local fix

  • Initialize all string values. For example, set the value to an
empty string ("").

Problem summary

  • The sort algorithm doesn't account for undefined or null values.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix that will allow undefined and null values, considering
them as empty strings ("") for sorting purposes, will be
available in a future release of IBM BPM.
