Error description

  • A ProcessAssertionError can occur if a staff query (work item)
is refreshing (or updating) while unused staff query instances
are being cleaned up. For example, you might refresh the expired
 staff query results so you can update work items.

Local fix

Problem summary


    

  • When you update a work item that has many inherited work items,
the related staff query instance and its work items cannot be
reused.
A new staff query instance must be used and associated with new
work items.

After creating the new staff query instance, and before
associating it with new work items, the new staff query is
marked UNUSED. As a result, a started cleanup of unused staff
query instances might pick up this new UNUSED staff query
instance and delete it, causing the ProcessAssertionError.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • A fix is available for a future release of IBM BPM V8.6 that
prevents the new staff query instance from being left in the
UNUSED state.
