APAR status

Error description

  • After creating a new message to be thrown with an
    ECApplicationException, you notice the ECApplicationException
    itself is not thrown. Instead, you receive a message similar to:
    
    java.lang.NoSuchFieldException: _ERR_TOOLS_RFQ_DUPLICATE_NAME
    from
    com.ibm.commerce.foundation.internal.client.util.RESTExceptionHa
    ndler.convertToECException.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
    WebSphere Commerce Version 8 environments that rely on BOD
    exceptions displayed on storefront.
    
    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
    New ECApplicationException message is not thrown
    
    BUSINESS IMPACT:
    BOD/command exceptions are propagated to REST service layer.
    
    RECOMMENDATION:
    

Problem conclusion

  • Updated to ensure that if BOD/command an exception exists, it is
     propagated to the REST layer and will be returned as an
    exception.
