JR55921: RESPONSIVE PORTAL CANNOT RETRIEVE GROUP MEMBERSHIPS FOR A SELECTED USER

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Responsive Portal relies on the /user REST API call to retrieve
the group memberships for a user.
Including all group membership information in response to the
user details (/user) REST API can lead to long run times for
users belonging to many (thousands of) groups.
To omit group membership information for a user, you can pass
the parts=none parameter with the REST request.
However, there is no way to get group membership information
for a selected list of group names.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • No additional information is available.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix will be included in IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2016.06
that enables you to specify a new parameter (groups).

When this parameter is set, REST API clients like Responsive
Portal identify the groups that membership is to be checked for
when the REST API retrieving user details (/user) API is used
even if no membership information is otherwise requested.

If you want Responsive and Heritage Portal to use the new
parameter, add a new Mashups_ConfigService property and set it
    to true:

    com.ibm.bpm.portal.excludeMembershipInfoFromUserInfoRestApis

For details about mashup configuration, see "Configuring custom
properties for Process Portal by using the resource provider for
    mashups"
    .wbpm.admin.doc/topics/tadm_portal_customprops_mashups.html?cp=S
    SFTDH_8.5.7).

Note: As a result of setting this flag for Process Portal and
Heritage Portal, the Work page task list does not auto-refresh
because the memberships information is not returned.
If you use this flag, turn off the task list auto-refresh
option as described in "Configuring custom properties for
Process Portal by using the resource provider for mashups".

In Process Portal (not applicable to Heritage Portal), the
following Mashups_ConfigService properties continue to work:

    com.ibm.bpm.portal.restrictModifyTask
    com.ibm.bpm.portal.restrictModifyTask.reassign
    com.ibm.bpm.portal.restrictModifyTask.due
    com.ibm.bpm.portal.restrictModifyTask.priority
    com.ibm.bpm.portal.hideWorkDashboard

To determine whether the cumulative fix is available and
download it if it is, complete the following steps on Fix
    Central:

    1. On the Select product tab, select WebSphere as the product
group, IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from the
WebSphere options, All as the installed version, and All as the
    platform, and then click Continue.
    2. In the Text field, enter "cumulative fix?, and click
    Continue.
